Armed robber quickly caught in Hyannis
HYANNIS
- Barnstable  Police make quick work of an armed robbery in Hyannis. They were called to the Cumberland Farms on West Main Street about 11:45 PM Thuesday where a man had reportedly robbed the clerk at gunpoint.

Within about a half hour using a K-9 dog police arrested 38-year old James Rothwell of Centerville on armed robbery charges. The clerk was not hurt. Police say Rothwell got less than $200 out of the register.

Rescuers find missing teen in Mashpee
MASHPEE
- A successful end to a search in Mashpee after a 15-year old boy is reported missing around midnight. About 3 hours later Mashpee fire and rescue personnel found the boy in a wooded area tired but uninjured. 

Fire damages treatment center building
FALMOUTH
- A fire caused extensive damage to a building at the Emerson House  complex on West Falmouth Highway late  Thursday. Firefighters responding to an alarm discovered the fire around 10:45 PM, It appeared to be centered in the attic of an annex building. The Emerson House is part of Gosnold of Cape Cod a substance abuse treatement center. Everyone made it out of the building safely and no imjuries were reported. Officials believe an electrical problem caused the fire.

Girl luckily escapes injury after car hits bike


    
A lucky little girl with paramedics after her bike (right) was struck by a car.
HARWICH - A little girl was very lucky to escape injury after her bike was struck by a car in Harwich.It happened about 5 PM on Route 28 by George's Pizza House.

Paramedics checked out the girl while officer Harwich Officer Paul Boorack (right) interviewed the elderly driver. Police say it appears the girl darted out into traffic without looking and no charges will be filed against the driver.

Deer meets pick-up, pick-up wins

   Another beautiful day along scenic Route 28 in Centerville.  The traffic snarled for an hour after a pick-up hit and killed a deer.

deer_598At 1 pm today while Barnstable Police was involved in a missing kayaker  search on Mystic Lake about 1 mile away at South County Road in  Centerville and Rt 28 they got a 911 call that pickup truck traveling North on Rt 28 near that corner had collided with a deer.

Centerville, Osterville Marstons Mills fire who was also handling the search sent an engine there.

The front of the pickup truck was badly damaged and the deer was on the grass on the shoulder of Rt 28.

The owner of the truck was shaken up but not hurt. The accident closed the North bound lane of Rt 28 for about 45 min to a hour till the flatbed came for the truck and Charlie Lewis the Barnstable Animal Control officer arrived to take the deer away in his van.

Someone remarked that very unusual in summer, in daylight and at this time of day for this to occur.  PHOTOS BY FRANK PAPARO

Man incredibly escapes serious injury after truck rolls over him
BARNSTABLE
- Authorities are amazed a  man escaped with only minor injuries after a truck he was workign under shifted and ran over him. Barnstable rescuers rushed to Millway about 11:30 AM. Suffering from road rash and torn hair the man was taken to Cape Cod Hospital and later driven to a Boston hospital for surgery to his ear. The 43-year old man was listed in good condition.
