Two arrested in West Dennis housebreaks

WEST DENNIS - At approximately 5:45 p.m., Sunday, September 5, 2010, Dennis Police received a 911 call from the resident of a home on School Street in West Dennis reporting that he had just arrived home and discovered 2 male subjects inside his house.  

The subjects ran out of the residence when confronted by the homeowner and were located in the area of Janet Road a short time later by officers who had responded to the call.  

Upon seeing the police, the suspects split up and ran in different directions from the officers but were taken into custody following a foot pursuit through neighborhood yards by several officers.

Also reported to police on Sunday afternoon were two additional house breaks, one on School St. and another on nearby Church St.  Evidence and stolen property recovered on the suspects resulted in the pair being charged in these breaks also.  

Anthony Mendes, 17, of 39 Pond Street in South Yarmouth and Roger Vieira, 18, of 22 Pinewood Road in South Yarmouth were arrested and charged with three counts of Breaking & Entering in the Daytime, Larceny, Possession of Burglarious Instruments and Resisting Arrest.

Mendes and Vieira are being held on $1,000 cash bail for their arraignment in Orleans District Court on Tuesday morning.

Dennis Police were also assisted by Massachusetts State Police and the Barnstable County Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Three arrested on drug charges in Dennisport Monday

DENNISPORT - On Monday afternoon, September 6, 2010, Detective Cleve Daniels, while conducting surveillance for drug activity in the area of Siasconsett Road in Dennisport, observed suspicious activity involving three people in a 1998 tan Mercury Sable.  

The Mercury was subsequently stopped by officers and the occupants were found to be in a possession of a small quantity of Percocet pills which they had just purchased.  

The three, Christopher Chockey, 22, of 583 Satucket Road in Brewster;  Dean Campbell, 19 , of 250 Tubman Road in Brewster and Cara Watson, 20, of 81 Captain Perry Road in Brewster, were arrested and charged with Possession of a Class B Controlled Substance and Conspiracy to Violate the State Drug Laws.

Chockey, Campbell and Watson were all bailed out on personal recognizance and are expected to appear in Orleans District Court Tuesday morning.

Yarmouth PD weekly arrests include several OUIs, felony assault and battery and B&E

YARMOUTH - During the past week, from Thursday, August 26 through Thursday, September 2, the men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department responded to 704 calls resulting in the criminal charges against 35 individuals.

The following are some of the more significant criminal events during that period.

On Thursday, August 26 at 6:46 p.m., Pamela F. Tuers, 47, of Bass River Terrace in South Yarmouth, was arrested by Patrol Officer Nicholas Ambrosini during a larceny call on Long Pond Drive and charged with Shoplifting.

On Thursday, August 26 at 6:46 p.m., Zacahary Cody Tuers, 21, of Bass River Terrace in South Yarmouth, was arrested by Patrol Officer Nicholas Ambrosini during a larceny call on Long Pond Drive and charged with Shoplifting.

On Thursday, August 19 at 9:26 p.m., Ryan A. Ferguson, 30, of Route 28 in West Yarmouth, was arrested by Patrol Officer Michael Zontini during a fight on Route 28 and charged with Felony Assault and Battery while Armed with a Dangerous Weapon, Attempt to Commit a Crime and Assault and Battery.
NO IMAGE On Friday, August 27 at 6 p.m., Daniel E. Caggiula, 56, Quartermaster Row in South Yarmouth, was arrested by Patrol Officer Albert Sprague after a motor vehicle crash on Old Town House Road and charged with Felony 5th Offense OUI Liquor, Operating to Endanger, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash after Causing Injury, Speeding and Operating with a Revoked License.

On Saturday, August 28 at 1:20 a.m., James Tierney, 51, of Scottsdale, Arizona, was arrested by Patrol Officer Christopher Marino during a vehicle stop on Town Brook Road and charged with OUI Liquor and Failure to Stay in Marked Travel Lane.

On Saturday, August 28 at 1:35 a.m., Wayne Downey, 58, of White Lane in Dennis, was arrested by Patrol Officer Michael Wells during a vehicle stop on North Main Street and charged with Felony 3rd Offense OUI Liquor, Operating to Endanger and Failure to Stay in Marked Travel Lane.

On Saturday, August 28 at 3 a.m., Dean Turco, 19, of Merrymouth Road in West Yarmouth, was arrested by Patrol Investigator Christopher Van Ness during a vehicle stop on Route 28 on an outstanding warrant.

Saturday, August 28 at 4:24 p.m., Mary Elizabeth Derrick, 19, of Ken's Way in West Yarmouth, was arrested by Patrol Officer Kevin Antonovitch during a domestic violence call at that address and charged with Felony Assault while Armed with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault and Battery.

On Saturday, August 28 at 8:39 p.m., Fransico Manuel Cunha II, 22, of Flax Street in Dennis, was arrested by Patrol Investigator Christopher Van Ness duirng a vehicle stop on Route 28 and charged with Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Driving without a Safety Inspection Sticker.

On Sunday, August 29 at 1:52 a.m., Brendan M. Foley, 33, of Regis Road in East Falmouth, was arrested by Patrol Officer Christopher Marino during a vehicle stop on Station Avenue and charged with OUI Liquor, Failure to Stay in Marked Travel Lane and Driving without a Safety Inspection Sticker.

On Monday, August 30 at 12:30 a.m., Jan Welsh, 47, of Tower Road in West Dennis, was arrested by Patrol Officer Christopher Marino during a vehicle stop on Route 6A and charged with OUI Liquor, Failure to Stay in Marked Travel Lane and Operating to Endanger.

On Monday, August 30 at 3:39 a.m., Nathan D. Schofield, 21, of Patridge Valley Road in West Yarmouth, was arrested by Patrol Investigator Christopher Van Ness during a suspicious persons call at Englewood Beach and charged with two counts of Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Possession of Burglarious Tools, two counts of Felony Larceny and Destruction of Property. On Tuesday, August 31 at 2:39 p.m., Nicholas Andrew Plante, 18, of Bluebird Drive in West Yarmouth, was arreseted by Patrol Lieutenant Michael Bryant during a vehicle stop on Buck Island Road and charged with Failure to Stop for Police, Unregistered Vehicle, Uninsured Vehicle, Felony Possession of Class D Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Operating a Motor Vehicle to Endanger, Failure to Stay within Marked Travel Lane and Operating with a Suspended License.

On Wednesday, September 1 at 3:59 p.m., Corey Anthony Pina, 19, of Ridgewood Drive in South Yarmouth, was arrested by Detective Eric Nuss after a motor vehicle crash on Old Town House Road and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash, Operating to Endanger and Felony Assault while Armed with a Dangerous Weapon.
NO IMAGE On Thursday, September 2 at 2:17 a.m., an unidentified male juvenile, 14, of West Yarmouth, was arrested by Patrol Investigator Christopher Van Ness on Camp Street after reportedly running away on a CHINS warrant.
