During the holidays, Route 6A in Sandwich has a little extra sparkle thanks to some festive figures along the road.  As you wind along Old King's Highway after the sun goes down, watch for a firefighter, a glass blower, a buzzing bee and a pizza pie.   Each figure is made up of several individual colored lights and represents a business or organization in Sandwich.

Dubbed the Giants of Sandwich, each figure is the creation of Michael Magyar and the first, Moto-San the glassblower, created in 1998, stands before his studio on Route 6A.

There are over 30 giants in town and six new ones debuted this year.  The slideshow above includes the figures along 6A.  Explore all of Sandwich to see many more.

According to the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce, each figure is bent round steel rebar, lovingly decorated in bright lights by their host families.
