Dennis police report Brian Barros, 44, of East Wareham, was charged with armed robbery. He was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
It was the second bank robbery on Route 134 Branch in less than a month.
At 2:25 p.m. on Thursday, Dennis police officers had responded to an armed robbery at the Sovereign Bank at 423 Route 134 in South Dennis. According to a statement from Dennis police, a male brandishing a handgun made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Barrios was identified as the robbery suspect following an investigation by Dennis Police with assistance from Barnstable Police, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office of Criminal Investigation and state police. Many tips were called in to the Dennis Police Department
Bank employees told police the suspect ran across Route 134 and got into the passenger side of an older 4-door sedan, possibly a Buick. The car headed south on Route 134 towards Upper County Road.
Last month, on February 13, the Citizens' Bank across the street was robbed by an unarmed suspect. That suspect was arrested four days later and his girlfriend turned herself in the next day.
Yesterday Dennis Police captured Brian Barros who will be changed with last Thursday's Sovereign Bank heist.
Dennis Police continue to investigate the robbery and asks anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Detective Matthew Turner at (508) 394-1315 or (774) 352-1527.
