Yarmouth police investigate death of 23-year-old man

Illegal drugs believed to have contributed to man's death
State and Yarmouth police investigate the death of a 23-year-old man Monday.

WEST YARMOUTH - Yarmouth police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old West Yarmouth man. Monday evening, around 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a Lake Road home for the report of an unresponsive male.

According to a Yarmouth police statement, officers arrived to find Joshua J. Brown lying on the floor. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe illegal drug use contributed to Brown's death.

This is the second death in Yarmouth in the past two weeks believed to be caused by illegal drug use. On the same day Yarmouth police were investigating the death of a 36-year-old man, two other apparent drug overdoses were reported. Firefighters were able to revive both of those victims.

State and Yarmouth police are jointly investigating Brown's death.
