Rhode Island man busted at West Barnstable Burger King with 15 grams of cocaine

Police received information that Battles would be in town with drugs in his possession

WEST BARNSTABLE - Acting on information received from a confidential informant, Barnstable Street Crime Unit (SCU) members arrested a Rhode Island man in the parking lot of the Burger King on Route 132 early Sunday morning.

SCU learned that 37-year-old Jason Battles of Pawtucket, Rhode Island would be in the Hyannis area and would have illegal narcotics in his possession.

When officers arrested Battles at 12:07 a.m. Sunday, they seized fifteen grams of cocaine, one gram of heroin and $700 in cash. He was transported to the Barnstable Police Station where he was booked and charged with possession of a Class A substance (heroin) with intent to distribute and possession of a Class B substance (cocaine) with intent to distribute. He was held on $3,000 cash bail until his arraignment in Barnstable District Court on Monday.

Battles, according to police, has an extensive criminal record including assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon charges. He was convicted in Suffolk Superior Court in 2009 for armed robbery.
