Mr. Paws, an 18-month-old orange and white cat, was found shot on May 17 by his owner outside his home on Pierre Venier Drive in Sandwich.
The cat was paralyzed from the waist down, but still alive, according to a release from the Animal Rescue League. Mr. Paws was taken to the Oceanside Animal Hospital where he was euthanized.
"The family is devastated and confused about why anyone would shoot their beloved pet," said an ARL spokesperson.
