Sagamore Bridge head-on crash sends five to the hospital

BOURNE - Five people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on the Sagamore Bridge Sunday night around 11:45 p.m. The head-on crash involving two SUVs sent all five to area hospitals, according to a Bourne Fire official at the scene.

One of the two SUVs crossed over into oncoming traffic.

The southbound lanes (headed on Cape) were closed for nearly two hours as authorities investigated, then cleared the scene.

The cause of the crash and the extent of injuries is unknown.

State Police are investigating. It is unknown which, if either driver will be cited in the crash.

Sunday night's crash is not far from the scene of the crash that killed two men at the base of the Sagamore Bridge on July 4th.
