At the beginning of the school year, the Sturgis Parent Association (SPA) donated $20,000 to the Sturgis Public Charter School. The gift will benefit the school's already expansive STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) resources.

The money was raised at the annual SPA auction, typically held in April. All of the money raised during the auction is divided between Sturgis's two campuses and is used to fund a variety of programs at the school.
