Cape Cod Community College is hosting several career/course information sessions through the end of the year. The sessions are geared towards adults looking to return to school and those interested in entering the broad field of health care.
Returning to school
The Adult Learner information sessions are for anyone looking to return to school following a lengthy absence. Cape Cod Community College offers support for such students to "retool" and reinvent themselves. Session are on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 22, November 19 and December 17 and will be held in room 115 of MM Wilkens Hall. Health care careers
Four other information sessions are planned through December--all related to the growing field of health care. These sessions are for four different certificates/degrees: nursing, medical assisting, paramedics and dental hygiene.
According to US News & World Report, health care workers are always in demand and in the future support jobs in the health care field will see the greatest growth. Bureau of Labor Statistics data from May 2013 places registered nurses and nursing assistance as two of the most prevalent occupations in Barnstable County.
Dental hygiene information sessions are set for Monday, October 20 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., November 17 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and December 15 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Nursing information sessions are set for Thursday, October 9 at 3 p.m., October 16 at 5 p.m., November 6 at 3 p.m., November 20 at 5 p.m., December 4 at 5 p.m. and December 11 and 18 at 3 p.m.
Paramedic information sessions are set for Monday, October 20 and December 8 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
A medical assisting information session is set for Monday, November 17 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Dental hygiene, nursing and paramedic information sessions will be held in the admissions lobby in the Nickerson Building. The medical assisting information sessions will be held in room 106 of MM Wilkens Hall.
