One killed in Wellfleet head-on crash on Route 6

WELLFLEET - One person was killed in a head-on crash on Route 6 in Wellfleet Saturday. According to a Wellfleet police release, the crash occurred around 1:15 p.m. in front of Cumberland Farms. 

Rescuers began CPR on a passenger of one of the cars who had sustained life-threatening injuries. The passenger was transported to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis where they were pronounced dead, police said.

Both drivers were also transported to Cape Cod Hospital. Their condition is unknown.

The initial investigation indicates a 2007 Subaru was headed north when it was struck by a 2014 Audi headed south. 

Police have not yet identified either driver or the passenger who was killed in the crash.

Route 6 was down to one lane for two hours as police investigated and cleared the scene. Wellfleet police were assisted by officers from Eastham and Truro. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Earlier in the day a two-car crash occurred less than 100 yards away. One of the two vehicles in that crash rolled over. It is unknown what caused the crash before noon or the extent of the injuries of those involved.
