Two 19-year-olds busted with heroin in Sandwich

K9 dog sniffs out 9 grams of heroin; cash, packaging materials also seized

SANDWICH - Two 19-year-olds are facing heroin charges following their arrest Thursday afternoon. According to a Sandwich police release, officers arrested Dylan Lane of One East Crossfield Road in Forestdale and Hector McMenamy of 4 Van Circle in Bourne at Lane's home after the pair returned from a trip off Cape.

A three-week investigation into heroin distribution in Sandwich led to a search warrant for Lane's home and the arrest of the two. At 12 p.m. on Thursday, Lane and McMenamy were arrested after Sandwich K9 Koda found 9 grams of heroin between the passenger seat and center console of McMenamy's vehicle, police said.

The heroin and $625 in cash were confiscated by police. During a search of Lane's home, officers seized digital scales and packaging materials consistent with the sale of illegal narcotics.

Lane and McMenamy were arrested and transported to the Sandwich Police Station where they were booked and charged with possession of a Class A substance (heroin) and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act.  Both will be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Friday, police said.
