K9 Flash Assists Orleans Police in Locating OUI Suspect Who Fled a Crash and Then Stole Another Vehicle

Also on Tuesday July 11th just after midnight, on the other side of the commonwealth, K9 Flash was also busy. Just after midnight, Trooper Steven Culver of the K9 Unit heard Orleans Police Departmentsearching for a suspect that fled a stolen box truck. Trooper Culver offered K9 services and Orleans Police accepted. Upon arrival, Trooper Culver learned the suspect fled a crash earlier in the evening and then stole a box truck before fleeing again. Trooper Culver deployed K9 Flash from the stolen truck. Flash acquired a scent and tracked away from the truck through a parking lot, around a large building and into woods along a bike trail. Flash continued tracking down the trail, into another parking lot, through a condominium complex and back into the trail again. As Flash continued tracking, the team came upon two Orleans officers who were speaking with a subject on the trail. Flash began to alert (bark) at the subject and after a brief investigation the suspect was taken into custody by Orleans Police.
