As school opened at Hyannis West Elementary School, over 180 students at the K-3 school received backpacks full of school supplies thanks to the tremendous community support enjoyed by HyWest.

Over 80% of the students at Title 1 elementary school are on free or reduced lunch. Because of the school's demographics, 100% of the students receive free lunch and breakfast.

HyWest's annual "backpack day" was held on August 29th, the day before school opened.  Kids received a backpack filled with necessary school supply items - all provided by HyWest's community partners.

Backpacks continue to be distributed as more school supply donations roll in.

Organizations that work with Hyannis West Elementary on the back-to-school supply program include: St. Mary's Church, the Kiwanis, the Masonic Angel Foundation and Chick-fil-A Cape Cod.
