Situated on Goat Island and surrounded by Narragansett Bay, Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina with 257 guestrooms and a 360-degree water view makes the Resort a four season destination in itself.

A short drive from Providence, Boston and Cape Cod, it offers the seclusion of a private island yet is centrally located near the shops and restaurants in downtown Newport. A shuttle service is available to bring you to town and return.

The Resort is a popular destination for all sorts of stylish vacations, business and social gatherings, as well as an ideal setting for memorable weddings.

Everything is grand here. No need to leave the property for dining including the delicious breakfast at the main restaurant.

The Regent Lounge offers a unique setting to enjoy creative cocktails, great food & entertainment open for lunch and dinner.

We enjoyed dinner at Scarpetta's, the resort's fine dining Italian restaurant overlooking Newport Harbor, serving signature classics as well as seasonal dishes, fresh local seafood selections, and a world-class wine list.

For starters we shared the Tuna Susci with marinated vegetables & preserved truffle, beet salad  and the braised short ribs of beef with vegetable & farro risotto. Both were wonderful. Next was the pasta pasta course. We ordered the duck & foie gras ravioli with a Marsala reduction and the Cavatelli braised rabbit which included porcini & an arugula Marsala reduction. All pasta is house made.

For entrees we decided on the black cod with caramelized fennel & concentrated tomato and the veal tenderloin gnocchi al la romana with root vegetables & glazed sweetbreads. Both were great choices.

Fritz Lazarus was recently named chef de cuisine at Scarpetta restaurant. The food was very creative and imaginative. Detailed prep and various cooking techniques were all executed to perfection.

Our server, Debralee, and food were phenomenal. A delicious high-end Italian restaurant with top-notch service and attention make it Newport's number one restaurant for both year round local diners or visitors. Open nightly year-round,
Treat yourself to the full-service Saltwater Spa which offers face, body and hair treatments including facials, massages, scrubs, wraps, and aromatherapy. I reserved the 110 minute "Ultimate Massage" with Selina which combined stone techniques and Swedish massage. It was heavenly. The spa treatments were wide ranging and creatively magnificent.

Indoor and Outdoor pools.  The resort has Newport’s only outdoor hotel pool. The seaside saltwater pool has a private sun deck. There is also a heated indoor pool for year-round swimming.

The outdoor fire pit patio in season features views of the beautiful resort along with the best sunsets lounge with wraparound deck,

If you can tear yourself away from this beautiful property there are many attractions and activities not to miss - including the famous landmark mansions, museums, vineyards, golf courses, beaches, state parks, scenic walks, and cruises. Newport’s annual events include jazz and folk festivals, regattas, a holiday boat parade, a flower show, and restaurant weeks in spring and fall.

Looking forward to another visit to this great resort.

Open year round
