Nantucket Police to Honor Outstanding Members

From the Nantucket Police Department:

The Nantucket Police Department will be recognizing members of the Nantucket Police Department on May 16, 2018 at the Select Board Meeting for achievements throughout 2017.

1) Dispatchers Theresa Eger-Andersen and Jessica Norris

Dispatchers Theresa Eger-Andersen and Jessica Norris are being awarded the Public Service Award in recognition of their significant actions contributing to the betterment of policing and public safety.

2) Officers Mason and Girard

Officers Mason and Girard are being awarded the Life Saving Award for acts performed in the line of duty which through prompt and alert action, resulted in the saving of a life.

3) Lifeguard Katherine Pittman

For her heroic actions taken in an attempt to save a life in the dangerous surf at Nobadeer Beach, Lifeguard Katherine Pittman is being awarded the Distinguished Service Award.

4) Lifeguards Dylan Bomeisler, Said Ali, Matt Gould, Matthew Finlay and Caleb Niles

For their extraordinary performance demonstrated in an attempt to save a life in dangerous surf at Nobadeer Beach, Lifeguards, Dylan Bomeisler, Said Ali, Matt Gould, Matthew Finlay and Caleb Niles are being awarded the Public Safety Service Award.

5) Assistant Harbor Master Brianna Vittorini

For her extraordinary leadership performance demonstrated in an attempt to save a life in dangerous surf at Nobadeer Beach, Assistant Harbor Master Brianna Vittorini is being awarded the Public Safety Service Award.

6) 2017 Nantucket Lifeguard Troop

For their extraordinary performance in accomplishing their mission during extremely difficult or hazardous conditions on August 16, 2017, the entire 2017 Nantucket Lifeguard Troop is being awarded the Chiefs Unit Award.

7) Detective Derek Witherell

Det. Derek Witherell is being awarded the Life Saving Award for acts performed in the line of duty which through prompt and alert action, resulted in the saving of a life.

8) VIP Coordinator Bill Grieder

Bill is being presented the Public Service Award in recognition of his dedication to the community through his service to the Department as part of the Volunteers in Policing Program.

9) Public Safety Emergency Communications Team

The Public Safety Emergency Communications Team is being awarded the Chiefs Unit Award in recognition of their efforts and actions that presented a positive image for the Department in accomplishing its mission during extremely difficult or hazardous conditions.

10) Sergeant Travis Ray, Officer Keith Mansfield, Officer Amanda Schwenk and Dispatcher Megan Smith

For their actions, Sgt. Travis Ray, Off. Keith Mansfield, Off. Amanda Schwenk and Dispatcher Megan Smith are being awarded the Significant Event Commendation in recognition of their direct participation in this significant event, representing the Nantucket Police Department in a professional and compassionate manner.
