Police Training Bill Remains Stalled at the State House

Back the Blue - Call your elected officials today...

Editor's Note - The following material was provided by Ms. Karen Fraher via the Yarmouth Police Department's Facebook page...

Please contact our ELECTED officials TODAY and ask them to DO THEIR JOBS!

Below is the body of the letter that I sent to each member of the House and Senate of the Commonwealth.
I sent a separate letter to Governor Baker.
I got the email addresses from malegislature.org. I left no one out.
So far I have received mostly automated mail replies from:

  • Sen. Henriette Chandler
  • Sen. Sonia Chang-Diaz
  • Sen. Karen Spilka
  • Sen. Kathleen O'Connor Ives
  • Sen. Michael Moore
  • Sen. Joan Lovely
  • Sen. Cynthia Creem
  • Sen. Nick Collins
  • Sen. James Eldridge
  • Sen. Donald Humason
  • Rep. Gerard Cassidy
  • Rep. Claire Cronin

I have received "live" replies from the following:

  • Sen. Julian Cyr
  • Rep. Will Crocker
  • Rep. Tim Whelan
  • Sen. Bruce Tarr, but he needed a bill number. Which I gave.
  • Rep. David DeCoste, replied that the GOP does not have the power
  • to push the bill through.

I will follow up with phone calls on Wedenesday to the leaders in the House, Senate, and the Governor.

The letter I wrote is simple and written from my heart and thoughts...

I have learned that the Police Training Bill is has been stalled. As a citizen of the Commonwealth this is unacceptable, I deserve better. The men and women of law enforcement in the Commonwealth who are relied on to protect and serve, entrusted with our safety; the people who are putting themselves on the line each day by simply doing their job, deserve far better.

It is time for ALL MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATURE AND THE GOVERNOR TO
DO THEIR JOB. The job that they were elected to: serve the people, represent and be the voice of the people. YOU ALL NEED TO WORK TOGETHER, GET THE POLICE TRAINING BILL MOVING AND GET THE BILL PASSED. Get the bill passed NOW, not later.

Realize that too much has already been lost.

I am a voter from Cape Cod, I understand why the legislation needs to be passed. I have reached out to each member of the House, the Senate, and to Governor Baker.
WORK TOGETHER, GET THE POLICE TRAINING BILL PASSED.
DO YOUR JOB.

There is a job to be done.

It is for Sean Gannon.

That is the letter, for the legislature I included by name, address and phone number.

Use the letter if you wish. I have a vote, I have a voice, I will use them anyway that I can in supporting all of you.

Sincerely

Karen Fraher
