Kids’ Art Program with Ruth Gainer, July 19

Waterlife is a beautiful over-sized book which arrived in our library last year. The artist/author Rambharos Jha was inspired by childhood memories of life in the waters near his home in India. The pages are rich in color and even feel good to the touch. As one reader has said “Without a shadow of exaggeration, this is the most beautiful book I’ve ever laid eyes on."

Ruth Gainer will be running an art program based on the book.for children aged seven and up    at the Woods Hole Public Library on July 19 at 3:30 PM. The group will  look at the imaginative ways Jha used shapes and patterns to create designs for all the activity he remembered seeing in the water. Then the participants will use felt pens, watercolors and natural sea sponges to make their own imaginative paintings about life in Woods Hole waters.

This event is free and open to the public, but people are requested to call the Library at 508-548-8961 to reserve a spot, since the total number of participants will be restricted to fifteen.
