Letter in Support of Ron Beaty for State Representative

from Lillian and Julian Harwood

I am writing to lend my strong support for Ron Beaty, the only candidate for the 5th Barnstable District State Representative who has consistently demonstrated his unwavering devotion to the principles of open government, accountability and transparency regarding our Cape Cod Regional Government and State Government.

According to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, “the purpose of the Open Meeting Law is to ensure transparency in the deliberations on which public policy is based. Because the democratic process depends on the public having knowledge about the considerations underlying governmental action, the Open Meeting Law requires, with some exceptions, that meeting of public bodies be open to the public. It also seeks to balance the public’s Complaints against State, County and municipal commissioners, boards, and committees when they have ignored or violated the Open Meeting Law, to the detriment of the public interest.

As a State Representative, Ron Beaty will bring this same refreshing diligence and public advocacy to the forefront of all his activities involving the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

We urge you to vote for Ron Beaty on September 4 because he will be your BEST representative.
