Upper Cape Toastmasters Conducts Annual Speech Contest

This Wednesday in East Falmouth

(Falmouth, MA) On Wednesday September 18, 2018 from 7:00 – 8:30 PM the Upper Cape Toastmasters Club will conduct its annual speech contest where members compete against each other in two different categories. This year there will be an Evaluation Contest where members and contestants listen to a speech given by someone from outside the club. Each contestant then critiques the speech that was just heard, which in Toastmasters lingo is referred to as an evaluation. This critique or evaluation is considered a speech and each contestant will be judged on how well he or she did on his or her Evaluation Speech.

The second contest is a Humorous Contest where contestants are allowed to select the subject of his or her speech. Speakers shall avoid potentially objectionable language, anecdotes, and material. The speech must be thematic in nature containing an opening, body, and close, not a monologue or series of one-liners.

This event is free and open to the public. Attendees should plan to arrive no later than 6:45 PM.
