From the Falmouth Police Department:

Car crashes into the ocean at the end of Maravista Ave.

Tonight, at about 6:57 PM, we responded to the beach area near the intersection of Maravista Ave. and Menauhant Rd. for a vehicle in the water.

Responding officers found the car upright and just beyond the waterline. The 28 year old female operator had already been helped out of the car by a witness to the crash. The operator, and soleoccupant of the car, was transported to the Falmouth Hospital by Falmouth Fire Rescue with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Falmouth Department of Public Works responded with a front end loader to assist the local tow company in pulling the vehicle out of the water and sand.

The cause of the crash is under investigation but we know that the car was travelling southerly on Maravista Ave at a high rate of speed. The vehicle did not stop for the stop sign, crossed over Menauhant Rd., went into the sand and travelled about 50 yards before coming to rest in the water.
