Provincetown Police - Road Work Notice

Phase 4 of Commercial Street project...

From the Provincetown Police Department:

Commercial Street PHASE 4

Provincetown Department of Public Works (DPW) has made the following announcement about Spring road improvements for Commercial Street.

Starting next week the road reconstruction contractor, The Robert B. Our Company (RBO) will start mobilizing equipment and materials both on Commercial Street and in the 3rd lot at the Grace Hall Parking Lot. You may also see the contractors out taking pre-construction photos and videos as well as putting up parking signs or barrels. This is all part of the scope of work.

RBO plans to have more than one crew working at all times and anticipates working in more than one spot at any given time. For this reason there will be NO PARKING on Commercial Street from Allerton Street down to Howland Street during the week Monday thru Friday from 7am to 5pm. This will begin on Monday March 25th and last until the end of June.

If you park on Commercial Street in the designated area you should seek alternate parking now.

You can also expect detours and delays while driving in these areas as well. While special duty police traffic officers will be positioned at both detour points as well as within the area of construction to facilitate local traffic, you should expect sudden road closures, other detours and/or travel delays.

Work will start with the striping of sidewalks and curbing and installing new curbing. This work is expected to start on March 18th and last until the end of the month. Starting the first week of April they will prep the sidewalks for brick. They also anticipate starting the actual road reconstruction work. This includes excavating the road, installing drainage and the stone base.
This schedule is just an estimate of when work will be started and completed. We will send out weekly email blasts to keep you informed of what work was completed and what you can expect the following week. We also try to give you a forecast of upcoming weeks as well as to keep you as informed as possible.

All areas will be specifically denoted and vehicles parked in posted NO PARKING AREAS, will be tagged and towed if necessary to complete the work.

All town parking lots are open without charge until May 1st.

Thank you for your cooperation during this important construction project. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Sherry Prada, Operations Director at the Department of Public Works at 508-487-7060 or [email protected]
