Horsley Witten Group receives five-year, eight-million-dollar contract...

Sandwich, MA - The US EPA Water Security Division has granted Horsley Witten Group, Inc., (HW) a MA based environmental consulting firm a five-year, eight million-dollar contract focused on “all hazards” emergency preparedness and response programs for water utilities. This is the third time HW has won the award and the eighth multimillion-dollar EPA contract secured by the firm. HW supports EPA with water resource protection projects across the country and has a strong record of accomplishment with the agency, beginning in the early 1990s when the Principals led a nationwide series of wellhead protection workshops for local governments.

“We’re excited to expand our relationship and geographic reach with the EPA,” said Thomas Noble a Principal of the Horsley Witten Group. “And, with the recent passage of America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018, the work under this contract is timely and needed.”

The work will cover topics such as understanding interdependencies between the water sector and other critical sectors, mitigating water contamination, preparing for extreme weather events, protecting source water from spills, and implementing cybersecurity best practices. HW will conduct trainings, workshops, and exercises based on real events, and develop outreach products such as web-based tools. To ensure the work is relatable to water and wastewater utility staff, HW will be applying lessons learned from hurricanes and other natural disasters as well as lessons learned from man-made disasters such as fuel spills. Staff will work closely with other water professionals that are teamed with the firm on this contract.
