Two Bicyclists Struck by Vehicle in Sandwich

19, 21 year old victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries...

From the Sandwich Police Department:

At 4:07 PM Sandwich Police responded to a report of a Motor vehicle that struck a pedestrian. Upon arrival Officers learned it was a Motor vehicle that had struck two bicyclists that were traveling west on Main St. near the intersection of Bourne Ave.

The bicyclists were 19 and 21 years old, both from New York. Both had non-life threatening injuries. One bicyclist was transported to the hospital by ambulance and the other was treated at the scene by Sandwich Fire.

The driver was a 64 year old Sandwich Resident operating a blue Ford explorer that crashed into the cyclists and remained on scene. The operator was cited for the crash.

Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department was called to photograph the scene. The crash is under investigation by Officer Tim Condon.
