Do You like to Play Scrabble?  Come join the COA Scrabble group and play with us! We are always looking for new participants. We meet on Mondays and Fridays at 9:30am, here at the COA. Join the fun!

Wednesdays and Fridays, 11:30 am-12:30 pm

 Zumba® Gold takes the Latin and international dance rhythms used in the original Zumba and adapts them for active older adults or beginners! The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba®

choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. Come ready to sweat and prepare to leave empowered and feeling strong! To participate, you must have a Liability Release form on file and your Medical Release form must be updated annually. Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late!  Medicare’s Open Enrollment Period is October 15 – December 7

This is a Medicare Overview and Open Enrollment Presentation at the Chatham COA given by presenter: Tracey Benson, SHINE Representative. This presentation is for Medicare Beneficiaries, family members, caregivers, caseworkers and representatives. Medicare Advantage (Part C)

COA GOURMET CAFÉ

Veterans’ Luncheon at the Chatham COA with Special Guest Speaker: MSgt. Debra Halsey, USAF, 102 Intelligence Wing, Otis Air National Guard Base

The Chatham COA will be honoring our veterans and military spouses this Veterans’ Day with a free lunch for veterans and/or military spouses who are Chatham residents aged 60 or older. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of socialization with fellow Veterans, and our special guest speaker from Otis Air Force Base, MSgt, Debra Halsey. On the menu: Cornbread and Apple Stuffed Chicken Breasts with Onion-Cranberry Glaze, Herbed Mashed Potato and Cauliflower Puree, Spinach Salad with Cranberries and Walnuts, and Pumpkin Pie for dessert. Fall Cooking Classes at the COA with Chef Heather Bailey

Wednesday November 6th & Wednesday November 20th, 10am - Noon 

Join us for Cooking Classes!  Following the lesson, the group will share the prepared lunch. Wednesday October 9th: Cooking for One.

Adjusting to cooking for one can be a challenge.  This class focuses on keen menu planning and using up perishable foods you have in a variety of simple and healthful preparations. Wednesday October 23rd: Tackling Inflammation.   Do you live with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Asthma or Diabetes?  These conditions and others can find a root cause in inflammation. Learn what diet changes you can make to conquer inflammation.  $4 per participant, per class. Payable at the COA Front Desk. Space is limited. Reservations are required. Transportation is available. COA Daytrip DestinationColony Place Shops & Lunch

Wednesday, November 13th, 8:30am

Join us for some holiday fun and get your holiday gifts and goodies purchased!  Transportation is FREE! We will travel to Colony Place Shops at Plymouth, which has a variety of shops and larger stores offering a wide selection and pricing. Colony Place has several different dining options to choose from for lunch, such as: sandwich shops, cafes, and restaurants. Lunch is at the cost of the diner. Transportation is FREE. We will periodically stop near predetermined location stops; however, participants should plan for a significant amount of walking on this trip. The bus departs the COA at 8:30am, with an estimated arrival back to the COA at 3:00pm. Reservations are required. Call the COA at 508-945-5190.

Tick-Borne Diseases are completely preventable…come learn how. Barnstable County has the fourth highest incidence rate of Lyme in Massachusetts.  Other diseases like Babesiosis, Anaplasmosis, Relapsing Powassan virus can each be serious as well. The “Tick King of Cape Cod”, Entomologist, Larry Dapsis from Barnstable County Cooperative Extension, will share his knowledge with you so you can protect yourself and your family. FREE Memory Screenings

Tuesday, November 19th, (by appointment), 10am -12 noon

November is National Memory Screening Month. Free, 30-minute, confidential Memory Screens will be administered by the Alzheimer's Family Support Center of Cape Cod at the Chatham Council on Aging on Tuesday, November 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Memory Screens can help to identify possible causes of memory loss and you will receive information on actions that can be taken if there is reason for concern. Transportation is available. Sight Loss Support Group

Tuesday, November 19th, 10:30am – 12noon

FREE Sight Loss Support Group at The Chatham COA, meeting the third Tuesday of the month thereafter, Sight Loss Services, Inc of the Cape and Islands and the Chatham Council on Aging will be holding monthly support groups from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon at the Chatham COA.  These support groups will sponsor speakers and programs to encourage the exchange of coping skills and            problem-solving strategies in order to foster confidence in maintaining an      independent and productive lifestyle.  Each month a different speaker will provide information on topics pertinent to vision loss or on topics that affect our daily living. November “DIY” (Do-It-Yourself) at the COA: Handcrafted Holiday Card Making Class!

Tuesday, November 19th at 1pm - 2:30pm

Join us to create beautiful handcrafted Holiday Cards to send to your friends and loved ones in our “DIY” Card-Making Class, led by Jill James. No experience is necessary! A Variety of Holiday-Inspired Materials will be provided. Participants are to contribute $5 towards the materials cost.

Chatham Rotary Thanksgiving Luncheon for Chatham Seniors at the Wild Goose

Thursday, November 21st, 11:30am

Please join us at this community luncheon for Chatham Seniors who will enjoy the company of Rotarians and students at each table!  Join us at The Wild Goose Tavern, Chatham Wayside Inn.  On the menu will be Traditional Turkey Dinner, with all the trimmings and dessert.  All guests are asked to arrive 11:30am, and lunch is served at Noon. 83-year-old Edie believes that it is never too late - packing an old camping bag, leaving her life behind and embarking on an adventure she never got to have - climbing the imposing Mount Suilven in Scotland. She leaves in the hopes of recapturing the magic from her youth, but what she discovers is much more than that. Starring: Sheila Hancock, and Kevin Guthrie.
