Pocasset, MA – Hydroid, Inc., a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime and a leading manufacturer of marine robotics systems, today announced they have been awarded Manufacturer of the Year for the Third Barnstable district by the Massachusetts State Manufacturing Caucus. Hydroid was nominated by Massachusetts State Representative, David Vieira, who represents the Third Barnstable District which consists of parts of Bourne, Falmouth and Mashpee. As part of October’s manufacturing month each year, Massachusetts lawmakers select one recipient from their district to receive the award.

Hydroid opened their 50,000 square-foot purpose built state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Pocasset, MA in 2014. Since then, Hydroid has been continuously improving their manufacturing processes. In 2016, Hydroid received a Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund Grant from the state to provide Lean Manufacturing training for employees. By integrating work cells and other Lean processes, Hydroid has seen an increase of production capacity of over 50%. Hydroid employs over 200 employees, with over 150 trained in Lean manufacturing processes, to design, manufacture, service and support their advanced marine robotics.
