Long, drawn-out period of rain begins tonight, continuing into early Friday; period of enhanced/possibly heavy rainfall after midnight Thursday night into early Friday along/ahead of a cold front. Few thunder rumbles possible in that timeframe as well, especially southeast of I-95. Impact from this amount of rain - around 1-1.5" - mainly limited to nuisance poor-drainage flooding from leaf-clogged storm drains.
Strong southwest winds capable of producing damage are possible along the south coast of MA/RI & Cape/Islands. HIGH WIND WATCHES posted from Late Thursday Night Thru Friday AM. Though it will be breezy to gusty Thursday evening, the worst of the winds are mainly in the pre-dawn hours Friday to mid-morning Friday.
