This holiday season, travel to the “Land of Sweets” with the Cape Conservatory Ballet as they present two performances of the timeless classic, The Nutcracker.

A performance for all ages, The Nutcracker will be performed by Cape Conservatory students and professional dancers in a delightfully-modern interpretation of the original 1816 fairytale by E.T.A. Hoffmann, which told the story of a little girl that travels to the “Land of Sweets” on Christmas Eve.

Artistic Director Jane E. Caputo has masterfully condensed the action-packed ballet featuring Clara, her Mother and Father, the Nutcracker, the Mouse King, Snowflakes, and the Sugar Plum Fairy.

“I have created a uniquely mischievous, but comical, Mouse King,” said Caputo. “He joins the characters in several technically-challenging dances that showcase the talent of our Cape Conservatory dancers, including the ‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’ and ‘The Waltz of the Flowers’.”

As a beloved Cape Conservatory Ballet presentation, The Nutcracker features 26 Conservatory dancers ranging in age from 5 to adult.
