Update - Statement by Mass. Environmental Police

Massachusetts Environmental Police Officers are currently responding to a hunting accident in the vicinity of Charlotte Furnace Road in Wareham. A hunter was struck when another hunter in the surrounding area discharged their firearm while engaged in hunting. Both individuals were wearing the required ‘hunter orange.’ The victim is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Initial Story

Reports from Wareham indicate that a hunter received an accidential gunshot to the shoulder Wednesday afternoon in the woods off Charlotte Furnace Road.  The hunter was transported to Tobey Hospital to received medical attention.

The matter is currently being investigated by Wareham Police and Massachusetts Environmental Police.
