(Boston, MA) -- Leslie Sandberg, Senior Advisor to State Senator Julian Cyr (D-Truro), will be stepping down from state service. Sandberg’s last day in the Senator’s office is today, January 14, 2020.
Sandberg has worked alongside Senator Cyr since his first run for public office in 2016. She started as chief communications strategist for Senator Cyr’s then longshot campaign to represent the Cape & Islands District, and then joined Senate staff when Cyr won his seat in the Massachusetts Senate. Throughout her tenure with Cyr, Sandberg was responsible for media strategy, complex public affairs issues, constituent services, and stakeholder relationships on behalf of the Senator for Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard.
“Leslie has been an invaluable resource for the constituents of the Cape & Islands District, and especially for me,” said Cyr. “In this work, it’s often said that you’re only as good as your staff. Thanks to Leslie, we’ve been able to truly shine in ways that make a difference for Cape Codders and Islanders. I wish her well in this next endeavor; I expect she will be active across the Cape & Islands for years to come.”
“I am exceedingly grateful for the opportunity to have helped Julian Cyr become state Senator for the Cape and Islands and then work with him for the wonderful, spirited and committed constituents who live in the district,” said Sandberg. “I see this next move as an extension of public service – a way to help non-profits, businesses and future candidates with their goals to solve the problems we face and enhance the quality of life in our unique coastal community.”
Sandberg’s thirty year career has established her as an expert in strategic communications and public policy. She has advised labor unions, non-profits, advocacy groups, political candidates and elected officials how to successfully handle public affairs issues, campaigns, and manage crises.
Sandberg will open a strategic communications firm, Rose, Sandberg & Associates, to be headquartered in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Sandberg’s business partner in launching the firm is Sally Rose, former editor of the Provincetown Banner and a longtime presence in Cape Cod media.
