PLYMOUTH - Reputed mobster Whitey Bulger returned to his cell at the Plymouth County Correctional Facility Friday afternoon following an appearance in a Boston courtroom earlier in the day.

A caravan of US Marshals and prision officials escorted the prisoner back to jail.

A Scituate man was sentenced to 13 1/2 years in federal prison Wednesday after pleading guilty in a Providence, RI court to filing false tax returns.

According to a release from the FBI, 47-year-old William L'Europa of Scituate pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the United States government and filing false tax returns.  He was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release.

Roberta Cicora gets 27 months in prison

A New York woman was sentenced to more than two years in prison for sending threatening letters containing white powder to Senator Scott Brown and Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley in May 2011. According to a release from the US Attorney's Office, Roberta Cicora, 57, also mailed letters to the District Court in Greenfield, MA and the Franklin County House of Correction in Greenfield.
