<title>New York Times best-selling author to speak at Geek Girl Camp in Hyannis</title>
<link>http://www.capecodtoday.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=1072</link>
<description>Social Media Expert and New York Times Best-Selling Author Chris Brogan Coming to Cape Cod
By Leslie Fishlock
We are so excited to announce that Chris Brogan, social media expert and best-selling author, and all-around nice guy, will be coming to town for an exclusive book signing and social media event! And we could not be more excited! The event is a fundraiser for Geek Girl Camp&amp;rsquo;s programs for women in need and transition, specifically tied to educational scholarships, computer training, providing laptops and other events and initiatives.
Chris Brogan, co-author of the New York Times best-seller, Trust Agents, will be in Hyannis, Cape Cod, MA on October 27th from 5-7pm to sign his new book as well as interact with local business people, techies and entrepreneurs on how to tap into the growing power of social media networks to build their brand&amp;rsquo;s influence, reputation and profits.
Brogan is president of New Marketing Labs, a new media marketing agency, and home of the Inbound Marketing Summit conferences and Inbound Marketing Bootcamp educational events. He works with large and mid-sized companies to improve online business communications like marketing and PR through the use of social software, community platforms, and other emerging web and mobile technologies.
In his new book, co-authored with Julien Smith, Brogan says that &amp;ldquo;social networks and personal connections have far more influence on consumers than your marketing messages ever will &amp;ndash; unless your business knows how to harness them. In Trust Agents, we show you how to tap into the power of these networks to build your brand&amp;rsquo;s influence, reputation and profits.&amp;rdquo;
Brogan explains that &amp;ldquo;trust agents aren&amp;rsquo;t necessarily marketers or salespeople; they&amp;rsquo;re digitally savvy people who use the Web to humanize businesses using transparency, honesty, and genuine relationships. As a result, they wield enough online influence to build up or bring down a business&amp;rsquo;s reputation. This book will show you how to build profitable relationships with trust agents, or become one yourself.&amp;rdquo;
Tickets for the event are $50 and can be purchased online here. Tickets will be available at the event for $60. <title>Cape Wind officials win award from American Society of Civil Engineers</title>
<link>http://www.capecodtoday.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=1065</link>
<description>Best Feature Article Award given to Olmsed, Rodgers
Cape Wind Vice President of Project Development Craig Olmsted and Communications Director Mark Rodgers were both given the 2009 award for the Best Feature Article Award&amp;nbsp; this week by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
The article, &quot;The Cape Wind Project in Context&quot; was coauthored by Olmsed and Rodgers and appeared in the July 2008 Special Issue, Engineering Strategies for Global Climate Change, of Leadership and Management in Engineering, published by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
&quot;It is a great honor to be recognized in this way by the American
Society of Civil Engineers and I think it speaks to the great interest
in offshore wind power in the U.S.&quot; - Mark Rodger
The award was presented at the Annual Awards Dinner of the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section at the Marriot Hotel in Boston on September 15, 2009.
The article is available for download here.
Cape Wind Communications Director Mark Rodgers noted that, &quot;It is a great honor to be recognized in this way by the American Society of Civil Engineers and I think it speaks to the great interest in offshore wind power in the U.S.&quot;
Cape Wind's proposal to build America's first offshore wind farm on Horseshoe Shoal would provide three-quarters of the electricity used on Cape Cod and the Islands from clean, renewable energy - reducing this region's need to import oil, coal and gas. Cape Wind will create new jobs, help stabilize electric costs, contribute to a healthier environment, increase energy independence and establish Massachusetts as a leader in offshore wind power.

continuity and coordination of good psychiatric care.&amp;rdquo;
Staff safety has also become a concern. &amp;ldquo;In essence,&amp;rdquo; said Ed Laroche, Executive Director, CCHC Behavioral Health Services, &amp;ldquo;this program has unintentionally fragmented the continuity and coordination of good psychiatric care.&amp;rdquo;
&amp;ldquo;People who truly need urgent mental health help will continue to be treated in the emergency department and will become Cape Cod Hospital or Falmouth Hospital patients,&amp;rdquo; added Laroche.
At the same time, all of CCHC&amp;rsquo;s Behavioral Health Services outpatient services will be consolidated from the Whitcomb Pavilion on the campus of Cape Cod Hospital to the Cape Cod Human Services facility at 460 West Main Street in Hyannis. &amp;ldquo;This consolidation allows us to expand access to outpatient behavioral health services and better facilitate placing patients in appropriate settings for behavioral health treatment,&amp;rdquo; said Laroche. The state Department of Mental Health has reviewed the plan to close urgent care and consolidate outpatient services, and the DMH understands the need for it.
&amp;ldquo;People who need mental health care will have better access to services and programs at Cape Cod Healthcare,&amp;rdquo; said Laroche. &amp;ldquo;We continue to provide a robust array of mental health services for the community, including inpatient, partial hospitalization, outpatient, three locations for Cape Cod Human Services, a Psychiatric Assessment Team, and a Kids and Teens Assessment Center.

<title>As two docs depart, Cape Cod Hospital to close Mashpee Oncology Suite</title>
<link>http://www.capecodtoday.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=1061</link>
<description>Departure of two staff physicians forces closure
As a result of the departure of the two staff physicians, Cape Cod Healthcare will close its medical oncology suite at the Mashpee Health Center, effective November 9, 2009. James C. Chingos, M.D., recently resigned, and Andrew Cederbaum, M.D., recently announced his retirement.
Letters were sent to about 400 patients last week, notifying them of the closure. About one-quarter of those patients are in active treatment at the center. The rest are being followed periodically as part of their post-treatment plan.
&amp;ldquo;As always, our first priority is patient care and safety,&amp;rdquo; said Susan Wing, Chief Operating Officer, Falmouth Hospital. &amp;ldquo;We will work with patients who are treated at the center to coordinate a smooth transition to a new provider.&amp;rdquo; Dr. Chingos, Dr. Cederbaum and the staff at the center will be involved in this transition and in recommendations regarding follow-up care.
Nine staff members will be affected by the closure. Union staff members at the center will have the option to bump into other positions within the Cape Cod Healthcare system, consistent with terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreements. Jobs within the CCHC system will be offered to others with qualifications that meet the organization&amp;rsquo;s needs.
CCHC remains committed to expanding and improving oncology services on the Upper Cape and is working on the details for the future Clark Oncology Center, which will be located on the Falmouth Hospital campus.
