From Farms to Forest

Wednesday, July 10th, 9am

The landscape of Cape Cod has changed dramatically in the past 100 years. Farm land of centuries past has returned to its natural state of forest and meadow habitats while many areas have been lost to development. At the Thompson’s Field Conservation Area you can see habitat progression in action. The property was a large farm that was allowed to revert naturally to woods and meadow. Join Harwich Conservation Trust (HCT) Stewardship and Outreach Intern Kristen Kuzil on a guided walk to learn more.

Directions for North (Rt. 39) Trailhead: From the intersection of Rts. 124 & 39, drive 0.9 miles east (toward Orleans). Parking is on the south (right) side of Rt. 39.

Registration: This walk is free, but please register in advance by emailing [email protected] or calling HCT at 508-432-3997 and pressing 4.
