2nd Annual Ready, Set, Work! Job Fair a Success

On Tuesday, March 27th, the Barnstable Youth Commission‘s 2nd Annual Youth Job Fair was a big success drawing 136 students from Plymouth to Eastham (and one student from Lawrence!). Young people between the ages of 14-18 were encouraged to stop by and visit with employers who were ready to hire eager young workers.  Warren Rutherford from the Executive Suite was on hand to help them prepare to ask questions about how to get a work permit, practice interviewing and getting familiar with the process of getting their first job.  The Y Achievers program (Molly Sproul, Lt. Jean Challies and Tatiana) added a new component in helping the applicants learn the proper way to write thank you notes for their interviews.  Thank you to the participating businesses: Barnstable Recreation; Ben & Jerry’s; BJ’s Wholesale Club; Cape Cod Times; Cape Wildlife Center; Catania Hospitality including - Cape Codder Resort, Daniel Webster Inn, Hearth & Kettle, and John Carver Inn;  Capt’n Frosty’s;  Chik-Fil-A; The Club at New Seabury; Kandy Korner; Katie’s Ice Cream;  Polar Cave Ice Cream; Ryan Amusements; Stop ‘n Shop; and YMCA of Cape Cod.
