I have got to mention one restaurant in particular and that would be Arnold Lobster & Clam Bar now for over 40 years. find them at 3580 RT 6 in Eastham or online at www.arnoldsrestaurant.com or on facebook or twitter and instagram. Folks, I know they don't need the press they are that good, but there are a few of you out there west of the Orleans rotary going really? Is it really worth the drive, and the swift answer is a resounding yes. Now first remember to take cash as they do not take plastic, never have, not sure they ever will. Arnold's has one of thee best Lobster Rolls hands down bar none. I can not begin to tell you all they have, it's just not about the lobster, but clams, scallops, chowder and bisque, And lets not forget the onion rings are ridiculously good, oh and don't forget the Raw Bar. They also have things for the land lovers as well, or for those who what even healthier options. So really there is something for everyone. After you finish your dinning and that wonderful ice cream dessert, go out back and play a round of miniature golf. You can either drive or ride your bike up the rail trail extension out of Orleans towards P'Town and you can work up a great appetite for when you get there. Arnolds, a Cape icon in restaurants, and food that will be remembered the rest of the year. Yum
Well folks I hope you have all your reservations made and we are on the visit list. It has been hoping around here and we are starting to fill up fast. I can tell you that the parking lots to the coast guard beach and our access roads are starting to see maximum filled signs out. Now please don't think that you can park at the lighthouse and walk down to the beach, that is a big no-no cause we want those who are coming to see the lighthouse have plenty of room, Also we do not have public access from the lighthouse down beach, and that is for safety issues. But we are going full tilt here, even in the mornings when the fog has been lingering lately and the beacon and the fog horn have been doing overtime. But remember we open at 9 am and will be open till 6 pm. Please be sure to check the times of the other lighthouses and quarters, and coast guard stations as we all have different times. I will do my best to accommodate as many as I can throughout the day. We do have volunteers throughout the day and they will answer all the questions you have or find an answer if they don't have it right away. Now just for safety I do have to close the grounds no later than 10 pm as it is a great place with do some stare gazing and watch for boats passing the Cape in the night with only their lights on. Well, I had better get back to the tower, I think we are holding up the line for folks wanting to go up. Keep in mind this is the 4th of July week coming up and the temps are suppose to be getting up there so please stay hydrated and keep lathered up with that lotion stuff, that skin cancer can be a nasty thing. Have a great and wonderful especially if you can do it right here on Ole Cape Cod and see you soon.
