Notes from a Maligned Blogger
Attacks versus Comment and Debate
As Bloggers, most of us who write on these pages are very used to getting comments; Pro and Con.
We speak our minds, and hope that some share our opinions, or at least enjoy what we have to say. Sometimes people disagree with us, and wish to debate a point or two, or offer an opinion of their own. That's a good thing.
Disagreement is as old as our Founding Fathers (much older, actually).
They, themselves agreed to disagree on many issues, before finally forming the document that gave everyone the right to their own opinions, religions, and freedom to say whatever the heck they wanted to say (only later amended to prohibit yelling, "Fire" in a crowded theater).
America is one great nation. There is no where else on earth I would rather live.
But, our country is currently going through a rough time.
Call it, "Growing Pains," or even a metamorphasis of sorts, but we all need to be ready to, "Stand beside her, and guide her...," when necessary.
And we all have different ways of doing that. My way is to write what I think.
Of course, I also pay taxes, vote, give blood and do other things that are not necessary to put into print.
Some people think we need, "This". Some people think we need "That".
But somewhere in between "This" and "That," remains our freedom to speak our minds ... and to even criticize our President and any other politician when we think they are wrong!
In America, we're even free to assemble in groups to complain about our leaders and their policies. This very weekend an Anti-War rally was held in Washington.
It was very well attended, and would probably have had even more people in attendance if not for Mother Nature's stormy onslaught down south.
My point is, that whether you support the war in Iraq or not is irrelevant when it comes to our constitutional right to march on our nations capital (or anywhere else) in peaceful protest.
Supporters of the war are equally welcome to march. That's America!
As a Blogger, I have my own style of writing. I see things in my own way, and often even find humor in all the seriousness of life ..even when others don't.
I make no apologies for that either.
If we can't laugh at ourselves, in the midst of all our human tragedy, we are doomed.
Whenever I put my opinions out there (the reason we all blog), I know that people are going to both agree and disagree with me. And that's fine. They should.
My door is always open to comments. Either way.
Just click my "comment button" and let me hear you loud and clear.
The day I am too old to learn something new, I will stop writing.
But, sadly, when another Blogger chooses to publicly attack me in "Blog Form," (continually taking my words out of context, and bringing up subjects I never wrote about in the first place), just because they disagree with my politics, or sense of humor, or views on religious fanaticism (no one religion in particluar), well then, that's another story.
This person may not be yelling "Fire" in a crowded theater, but it sure isn't what Blogging is all about.
So, I am hereby exercising my own freedom of speech, to let everyone know that RappCity is not only alive and well, but bustling with comments (in all the the right places) as we speak.
And me? I stand by every word I've written!
Come take a peek for yourself, and see the real Blog. But see it from the source, not from the selective clips of someone else's "opinions." ###JC

Blog posts and comments are entirely the thoughts and ideas of the people who write them and in no way represent the views of CapeCodToday.com, eCape, Inc., or its employees or owners.
It is not your opinins that I am concerned about, you may have them. I am a believer in your right and mine to lobby and persuade(sic). I am concerned when your view is complicated by distractions of rheteric. Speak plainly and with backed sources as you know how. Your flights of fancy are yours to be had. Blogging is the first cut at history and there are many more questions to be answered. As to a sense of humor, it resembles the potty jokes that I share with my son. All turds, no wit!
When someone takes your blog and makes it a main entry for their blog then it is far and away a fair thing to comment upon . Tis Drew who should have commemted within the comments with his comment. Let's move on!
This is exactly what I was talking about; Hitting the comment button.
Whether to commend me, debate me, chide me, or stand beside me ...THIS is the place to do it. That's all I've been saying all along. Thank you (even those who disagree with me).
Now, as for specifics:
Sulla:
My "Opinions" and I thank you ...for letting me know, I "may have them."
Have you considered the possibility that you just don't like me?
Perhaps if you just didn't read my Blogs (which you always disagree with anyway) you'd enjoy the day more. But, then again, don't construe that as my telling you not to come around.
Everyone is always welcome here in RappCity. Have a nice day.
Andrew:
Nothing you have said yet has offended me. It can't.
First of all, I take criticism in stride. It goes with the territory.
Secondly, nothing you've said yet makes sense to me, so it can't offend.
We are all here exercising free speech. Aren't we?
(Drew...Andrew... Hmmmmmm).
Peter:
I only wrote this Blog to make a point: That (IMHO), personal critiques and personal objections to Blogs belong on the COMMENT pages of these Blogs ...Where we are right now. :)
I just felt that it needed to be said ...because if we make every comment we have about other peopler's Blogs ... into Blogs of our own ...on the "Main Blog Page" ... it would "Blog UP" the whole forum.
It would also change the nature of this place. And, I think, not for the better.
Lawrence:
Thank you for your level head, and good sense of color.
I certainly hope you stick around and continue to speak out in favor of intelligence.
Cape Gal:
You're a righteous woman! Thanks for the encouragement and I sure hope to see you again.
All:
Notice that I had no need to even mention any names in my Blog. It was written for anyone who cared enough to read my opinions on what I will now term, "Blogger Etiquette."
Some issues are never going to be agreed upon. I would never expect everyone to agree with everything I say. That would be impossible.
I may be an optimist, but I'm not Pollyanna ... Ha!
....Of course if it were possible ...it would mean that everyone would also want ...a New President, a New Congress, Protected Wetlands, An end to the War...and ...definitely a PONY.
Anyone who ever wants to have a word with me, about me, or with others on the subject of me, can always drop by and leave a comment. I encourage it.
The door is always open. You don't even need to knock.
Let 's just try and maintain some civility. JC (RappCity)
Welcome, and thank you.
It is true we don't "force read" people here. LOL.
What's that old line?
Paraphrase: "I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."
I believe that completely.
I think everyone should have an opinion. Even about what I say. Hahaha!
I just think personal attacks (If someone finds Blog form a necessity)should at least have more "finesse" than a home made molotov cocktail tossed from a moving car. JC
