Retired Cape Lawyer held Cezanne's masterpieces for ransom
A retired Massachusetts lawyer, who lives on Cape Cod, says he secretly held seven stolen paintings, including a Paul Cezanne still-life worth millions of dollars, for 28 years.
The paintings, including Cezanne's "Bouteille et Fruits" on right had been stolen from a collector's home in the Berkshires in 1978.
Robert Mardirosian was unmasked as the keeper of the painting in a London courtroom yesterday, tells the Boston Globe that he wanted a 10 percent finders fee.

The paintings were actually stolen by Mardirosian's client. The alleged thief, David Colvin who died in 1979, told Mardirosian about the heist and then left the paintings in the attic above the lawyer's Watertown office.
Mardirosian says he considered returning the works to their owner, Michael Bakwin of Stockbridge, but decided he wanted money.

Besides, anyone out there want a Cezanne cheap? How about Monet? I'm very good at Monets. Let me know. Poplar trees? Haystacks?
It would be hilarious if the million-dollar Cezanne turned out to be a fake.
