Local NPR stations starting "Op Ed" series

The three National Public Radio stations on the Cape and islands - WCAI-FM in Woods Hole (90.1), WNAN-FM on Nantucket (91.1) and WZAI-FM in Brewster (94.3), today began running a new feature in their broadcast schedule, an "Op Ed" which will air twice a week.
Today's first on-air column was written by Harwich poet Mary Cronin, who teaches at Cape Cod Community College, on overuse of standardized tests.
Cronin's piece, titled "Positive Effect," was broadcast at 8:30 this morning and will run again at 5:45 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13.
The second installment in the series is an op-ed in favor of the Cape Wind project from Clean Power Now, read by veteran newsman and CPN member Francis Broadhurst. The piece will air on Friday, Feb. 17 at 8:30 a.m. and Monday, Feb. 20 at 5:45 p.m.
All subsequent op-eds will run on these days and times.

Kudos to NPR for doing this. It would be great if we could know in advance the topics so we can tune them in. Also, if someone wanted to write a piece for them to consider, are there guidelines and addresses?

The local NPR stations are sounding more and more like a daily newspaper ever since they got in bed with the Cape Cod Times.

I wonder what the NPR rules are about being bought out by a for-profit news organization without them actually paying for the station. Or is the CCT subsidizing WCAI-WNAN, does anybody know?
