There is an Elephant in the Living Room!

Today, Cape Wind and its peculiar band of proponents went to Washington to cry to the National Press about the Steven's Amendment to the US Coast Guard Bill as unfair to THEM since it may be stopped due to public safety concerns.

Meanwhile a front page story in the Cape Cod Times  reveals the real reason behind the Steven's Amendment; Public Safety and National Security.

Here is an excerpt from this important story:

''The results of these trials/studies seem to confirm our concern of potential interference from wind turbines to our own air traffic control radar systems,'' Marion C. Blakely, administrator of the FAA, wrote to Delahunt.

The letter, which does not specifically name the Nantucket Sound project, cites a March 2 meeting where the U.S. leaders were briefed by a representative from the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence about the effects of wind turbines on radar there.

Among the participants during that meeting were the FAA, various military branches and the Department of Interior, the lead agency reviewing the proposal by Cape Wind Associates to build 130 turbines in Nantucket Sound.

In recent months, Delahunt urged federal leaders to conduct such research.

Delahunt staff members said yesterday they were not aware of any specific time frame or studies. ''But now that they've notified a member of Congress, it will begin in earnest,'' said Steven Broderick, a Delahunt spokesman.

The U.S. military has been quiet about its recent investigation into the impact of wind turbines on radar. But the FAA recently froze a permit for a wind park in Wisconsin until the Air Force is sure the turbines will not interfere with a nearby radar station."

No question, there IS an elephant in the living room and Cape Wind and its proponents want us and our elected officials to ignore it by casting itself in the light of 'some one who is being picked on by the rich'. What nonsense.

If Cape Wind and their band of proponents really care about us and our environment they would not put themselves and this particular project above the safety of the American People.

i don't oppose capewind. they have my permission to put turbines on my public resource. This "letter" was dated April 10. why did you take 10 days to make this new? danger, discussed at a meeting March 2nd, known? Someone alert homeland security! Never mind, Delahunt's gonna handle it.

"Apathy, hypocricy and greed"?
"pandemic color"???? That is out right "crazy talk"!

pandemic denotes "global epidemics" usually concerning disease.

MAGICAL don't even respond to this mind rotted garbage. I don't know what kind of "bizarro" producing drugs or mind screw machines the wind industry is using to "pandemically color" people's vision but the truth can only be seen in black and white. Those that sucker up to rose colored misconceptions are baffling.

Here is a hoot... did you know that a scientist in Calgary actually did a study (true story) that says that the more wind turbines that are constructed the more they will alter the global climate?

"How does the unintended climate change due to wind turbines compare to their intended effect in reducing global warming?

The primary reason for building large amounts of wind-power is to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions that cause climate changes such as global warming by replacing coal-fired power plants (and other carbon dioxide emitting power sources) with wind power. Suppose one builds a single wind-turbine and uses its power to replace electricity from a conventional coal-fired power plant. By reducing carbon dioxide emissions, the wind turbine will have a tiny (unmeasurable) effect in reducing global climate change. The wind-turbine will also cause a tiny and likewise unmeasurable amount of climate change by altering wind patterns.

When/how did industrial wind power plants become the OPIATE of the MASSes?

I hear the drone of things like "it's not a solution but its a good start"

First of all if you think its a start let me remind you that "modern" use of an ancient technology was modeled after the California projects not the Europeans. We didn't "lag behind" we "abandoned" it on any larger scale. It "sells" to land based land owners because they profit by leasing the land or owning it all together. By the way the Danes that live around these "egg beaters" love them not because they power their homes but because it helps pay for their homes since most are either owned by the locals or they get kick back $.

JB put down John Barleycorn and remember Radar Techs get paid in a long line of people with their hands out when "work arounds" have to be performed. It comes out of tax payer pockets.

It's a good start... and a lemonade stand or a paper route will put you on the road to success.

Bet a lot that believe this Cape Wind "infomercial" have Clappers,Thigh Masters and Nordic Tracs too.

I can not believe the people that oppose the wind farm. What are all of you thinking? This is a clean way to produce clean low cost electricity. Can that really be so bad? In this day and age of fuel over $3.00 a gallon I would think poeple of sound mind would realise that we need these wind farms to save our valuable fossil fuels. AS for the Radar lorans and Gps do not need radar to work, And the wind farm will be a stear clear zone for the shipping lanes like any submerged or not submerged piece of land that is there already. The so called problem with the radar can be overcome with the use of the more modern types and any aircraft flying that low over the water is in violation of FAA regs anyway. Tell them to drop thier cargo over the open waters of the Atlantic. That may eliminate some of the drug traffic over the Cape and give some of our P.D.'s a rest. As for the birds Please stop blowing smoke They will go around the Darn things. So why don't you legislaters start listening to the people and get busy to start lowering some of the bills your constituants Pay ?

Here let me help you out. There is a reason for this and that is those of us that have not accepted the the ways of the "Monopole" cult can function independent of each other.

MONOPOLIZING TRAITS (you may be one already)

People who believe in these monolithic man made machine are mesmerized by the effects they have on certain "feel good" areas of the brain. The very sight of them re-enforces a calmed state causing them to feel as if the troubles of the world can be solved by benign methods. They continue to saturate the the media with graphic representations and using the the Stockholm effect of punishment and reward they submit to the placebo promise of more rewards than pain.

These monopoles as they are called (also the term for people that believe in them) are termed graceful and benign in theory but in reality a "stuck up manufactured structural clone promising vision if you don't mind them crowding your view. No different in design or capacity serving a single function which can only be beneficial if they get to all stand together in one place they believe is "ideal".

Little Fish, Jedi Knight [Visitor] writes:
Now what I just wrote is tongue and cheek but I am not joking all together. This whole thing stinks of mass deceptive marketing and the very fact that many argue that they don't get why you don't see the reason this is real is no different then movements and cult cultures. Every place you look every site that defends them has some graphic representation of a wind turbine.

You hear them described as if they were almost a "symbol of", help me out here Jack....

This is scary stuff and you can call me a nut but go to AMWAY's web site. The only thing missing there is the wind turbine, or is it? Don't forget advertisers know what triggers thoughts in the subliminal mind. You don't have to see it to see it. Pay attention to the colors used and tell me if they look familiar some how.

Make you afraid of everything from WAR to the very air you breathe... promise you a gentle simple solution...

We respond as humans to pleasure and pain. The more pain you fee about things the more pleasure you will get from the opposite they into those feelings their "product". That is all it is.

To Magical Eye::How about 25 years in the Air Force as a Radar repairman do you think that gives me some knowlege as to what can and can not be done. You need to stop listening to the politicians and start thinking for yourself. After the initial cost has been paid and you have Maintainance to worry about, the decrease, if you write the contracts properly and take the graft for the local politicians out you will have some low cost electricity. There are more than one types of wind generators. Some even have much smaller blades and can pick up the wind from any direction without having to change directions. They will generate the same energy as the big ones. You obviously have a computer, look up wind generators on it as research and you will be surprised. That is where I am coming from it is called experiance and research Try It As for the Birds you worry so much about. When is the last time you say them hit a house or run into a tree? On the radar issue I am listening to the Ministry of Defence and have been in communication with them over the past few months. Here is a quote from the Head of Safeguarding, in his 4/12/06 letter to me "What Wing Commander Loveday meant was that while we are confident that solutions are possible we are looking to others to develop them. But I must make it absolutely clear that no satisfactory solutions exist at the moment so we see no reason to change our current policies and procedures". You still did not answer my question about the last time you saw a bird fly into a building a tree or, to make matters more difficult a power line. Mass Audubon does not care for the birds directly... talk to someone that does. I told you where I got my information. From the Head of Safeguarding at the Ministry of Defence in the UK./ And do be aware that the FAA is now conducting their own studies and has put a wind farm on hold due to this new and vital information. The Mineral Management Service, part of the DOI is the lead federal agency reviewing CapeWind now, the ACE was the lead agency until the new energy bill passed last year put the MMS in charge with its more extensive background in permitting offshore structures (mostly offshore oil drilling platforms). All of the data gathered under the ACE was carried forward as well.

The wind is a resource, a wind farm extracts energy from the wind, so yes, this is mining, or at least extraction.

To get absurdly technical, the air has trace minerals in it, but they are not what provide energy.

The beauty of wind farming is there are no holes to dig, no moutains to level, nothing to burn. The wind is renewable and will never create an emission.
