Head-on crash injures one in Provincetown

PROVINCETOWN - Officials credit airbags with preventing serious injury in this nasty head-on crash this afternoon in Provincetown. The collision between a Kia Sportage SUV and a Ford F150 pickup occurred on a relatively straight section of Race Point Road between the Beech Forest picnic area and the Provincelands Visitor Center about 3:30 PM. One driver was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation and a dog was taken to a veterinarian but is expected to recover. The road which is the main route to Provincetown Municipal Airport was closed for about two hours while officials from Provincetown and Truro Police along with Cape Cod National Seashore park rangers reconstructed the crash. Thank God it was head-on... I'd hate to get rear-ended in Provincetown.
