A young Cape Cod native's questMass GOP at Rock Bottom
The Cape Cod Times ran a wonderful story on Sunday about Gloria Larson's decision to change parties and support Deval Patrick's candidacy for Governor. Ms. Larson, the most powerful woman and one of the most revered Republican activists in Massachusetts, disapproved of Kerry Healey and her incestuous ties within the debased Massachusetts Republican party and made a conscience-based decision to throw her support behind a Democrat with higher moral character. I applaud Larson's decision and will be following in her footsteps. After being screwed by Kerry Healey and her buddies at the Mass Republican Party........again, I don't want to identify with a party that was used to serve the self-interest of one woman rather than the public interest here in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
So I am aligning myself with the Green party......for now. I thought about becoming unenrolled but that is way too boring and, like the Republican party, the Democratic party is lacking a genuine moral compass so I am going to identify with a party that I believe has a sincere agenda (environment, helping low-income working families and not just the super rich, fair economic competition) with NO SPECIAL INTERESTS and no self-serving politicians.
When and if the state and national party get their act together I, like Gloria Larson, will gladly assimilate back into Republican party. But after the Republican party, under the aegis of Kerry Healey's husband's business partner, funneled funds that should have gone toward viable candidates of modest means like myself and many others into mega-millionaire Kerry Healey's loser no chance campaign, I can't in good conscience proudly say that I am a Massachusetts Republican.
The R will remain next to my name as I don't intend on changing my party registration. However I am what many refer to as a RINO, a Republican In Name ONLY. The values and agenda that has been demonstrated by the party are not my values nor my agenda. I stand for integrity, and I believe that the party with the most integrity is the Green party. Sure, many within the Green party appear rather eccentric and out of the mainstream. But they care and are passionate about their issues and don't use their party as an instrument for attaining power. So if the Green party is the party of integrity then I am a RINO with Green values.......that is until integrity is restored to the Republican party.
