The latest local police and fire newsTeen accused of firing shots in Harwich
16-year old charged after shots fired
HARWICH - A 16-year old was arrested after allegedly firing shots at some other kids. According to the Cape Cod Times the boy and the other kids planned to meet to settle a beef in a remote area off Queen Anne Road Tuesday. The teen allegedly fired several shots at the scene. No one was hit but a car may have been struck. School resource officers from Harwich, Dennis and Cape Cod Tech investigated the incident. The boy's name is not being released because of his age. He was held at a juvenile detention center in New Bedford until his arraignment in Orleans Juvenile Court on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and firearm charges. The dispute had reportedly been brewing for a long time though its not clear what it was about.
Several injured in Harwich crash including young girl
HARWICH - Several people including a young girl were injured in this crash in Harwich early Thursday afternoon. A Dodge Caravan driven by Alciere Nodueira of Brewster Brewster broadsided a Subaru coupe driven by 87-year old Robert Nicolas of Brewster. at Route 137 and Long Pond Road by Fontaine Medical Center about 12:45 PM. Traffic was diverted until the mess was cleared. The crash is under investigation by Harwich Police who plan to cite Nicolas for failing to grant the right of way and Nodueira for failing to properly restrian a child.
