TV Thief caught with help of scanner listener; Child rescued after getting locked in

Centerville house fire quickly extinguished
CENTERVILLE - Anxious moments when a fire is spotted burning in the rear of a house in Centerville. Firefighters were called to 256 Stoney Cliff Road about 5:50 AM and were able to quickly knock down the flames and prevent any significant damage to the interior of the home. The occupants all escaped safely and no one was injured. Investigators are looking at the vent of a pellet stove being used for heat as a probable point of origin for the fire.

WEST BARNSTABLE
- Two people are under arrest by Barnstable Police charged with trying to steal two flat screen TVs from homes in West Barnstable. The Times reports about 10 AM a homeonwer on Willow Street in West Barnstable return home to find a man leaving with two TVs. The suspect later identifed as 25-year old Stephen Reddy of Plymouth reportedly apoligized to the owner, put the TVs down and fled. The homeowner gave police a description. That's when another citizen monitoring his police scanner spotted the suspect getting into a Ford Taurus with a woman driving. Police quickly caught up to the vehicle on Soft Shell Lane where both occupants fled. The woman 22-year old Colleen Bradley of Pembroke was quickly caught. A K-9 dog found Reddy a short time later, his clothes torn from running through thick brush. Reddy reportedly admitted to the break-in saying he needed money to buy heroin. Both suspects were charged with breaking and entering in the daytime to commit a felony and larceny over.
