Teen injured in Mills crash; Bourne, Onset fires; Brewster fatal crash

Teen seriously injured in Mills crash

mmteenaccident2_400MARSTONS MILLS - A teenager was seriously injured when his car slammed into a tree early Sunday morning. The crash happened on Osterville/West Barnstable Road by the Sheriff's Youth Ranch shortly before 1 AM. Rescuers used the Jaws of Life for about 45 minutes to free 18-year old Brian Jenkins.

He was taken to the nearby Cape Cod Airport in the Mills where a Medflight helicopter flew him to Beth Isreal Hospital in Boston. The cause of the crash is under investigation by Barnstable Police. Further details were not immediately available. Photos courtesy of Ryan Somerfield.

Boat, house fire keep upper Cape, Onset firefighters busy
BOURNE
- A busy night for firefighters on both sides of the canal tonight. First about 7 PM a boat caught fire at the C&S Boatyard behind the Cumberland Farms on Main Street in Buzzards Bay. Two other vessels were damaged but quick work kept the flames from spreading to even more boats. 

Otis and Onset firefighters helped out at the scene and Onset firefirefighters were mopping up when they had to rush to this two-story house on Cleveland Way in their town where a two-alarm fire had broken out. One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation. Photo courtesy of Ryan Somerfield.

Driver injured in beach crash
EASTHAM
- One woman was injured when her vehicle crashed at the entrance to Coast Guard Beach in Eastham late Saturday afternoon. A passerby found the wrecked vehicle a Jaguar in a ditch by the beach entrance. The driver 46-year Doris Anderson of Eastham was located at her residence. She was taken to Cape Cod Hospital and listed in stable condition. Her husband who was a passenger in the vehicle declined treatment. Eastham Police and Cape Cod National Seashore Park Rangers are investigating the crash.

Fatal head-on crash in Brewster
BREWSTER
- One person was killed in a head-on crash in Brewster about 6 PM Saturday evening. One vehicle reportedly collided with another at the intersection of Main Street (Route 6A) and Ridgewood Road.

87-year old Eleanor Coghlan of Barnstable was killed when her Toyota Sedan collided with a pickup truck driven by 47-yearold Mary Talmadge of Brewster. Talmadge was not seriously injured. Brewster Police are investigating the cause of the crash. Photo courtesy of Kirk Riker.
