Art vs. Life
Images Delight and Amaze Us - They Reveal Our Own True Nature, Like a MirrorForm and Function, Aesthetics and Renewable Energy
I would"nt begin to think I know enough about the wind farm to comment but I do understand the urge to maintain an aesthetic approach to the wonderful natural resource of Cape Cod. When I lived in Seattle, the energy company Seattle City Lights, funded an artist-in residence , Dan Corson, who collaborated on aesthetics and design, with the energy company. You can see is work on www.corsonart.com.
If we can imagine a way to build new structures in an innovative way, the oppostion perhaps will not be so great? These windmills are very sculptural, but where we place them is problematic? I have recently struggled with my conscience over night lighting, not wanting to pollute the night sky. Have you ever thought of how we could so easily ruin our view of the night sky with too many lights. Here is an interesting website.
As an artist I feel compelled to work with and not against the beauty we have been blessed with on this small and fragile island. Wonder who is involved in the design and aesthetic issue of these developments. If we contribute to global warming without thinking about the reprecussions, we all lose, but how can we make our gizmos work for us not against us. Art vs. Life, I got a great comment last week. Life usually wins but art should take a good shot before its all over. Van Gogh was a visionary starry, starry night. and room for wind mills somewhere, but how and where?
