Multi vehicle crash kills one, injures two

SANDWICH - A multi vehicle crash on Route 130 in Sandwich killed one person and injured two others. The crash happened about 11:45 AM near the Dunkin' Donuts and the old Cemetery. The driver of a Chevy Tracker (above) 64-year old Diane L. Carhart of Forestdale had to be extricated from the wreckage. A Medflight was requested to the Forestdale School for her but was later cancelled. Carhart was rushed to a Falmouth Hospital and was pronounced dead. Ambulances from Sandwich, Mashpee and West Barnstable helped transport victims to area hospitals. Sandwich Police are investigating this latest in a long series of major crashes on Route 130. Reports say a Carhart may have been waiting to make a left turn when she was hit from behind by a car driven by 50-year old Christopher Parker of Sandwich. The impact then apparently thrust the Tracker into the path of this NStar pickup truck (right) driven by 48-year old Francine Abbott of South Dennis. Parker and Abbott escaped serious injury. Traffic on Route 130 was being rerouted around Cotuit Road causing heavy delays in the area for some time after the crash. Later Monday evening around 8 PM rescuers were called to another collision on Route 6 near exit 4 in Sandwich where a car had crashed into the woods. The driver suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries and was taken to CCH. After investigation police charged Parker with motor vehicle homicide. Reports say Parker has an long record of driving offenses.

Two injured in Falmouth head-on crash
FALMOUTH - Falmouth Police are investigating a head-on crash between a pickup and a car on Route 28 by the Oysters Too restaurant about 6:45 AM that sent both drivers to Falmouth Hospital. Police say the pickup driven by 21-year old John Damiano of East Falmouth collided with a Toyota Camry driven by 20-year old Robin Abaid of East Falmouth. Police cited Damiano for failing to stay in marked lanes. 

Speed cited as factor in Harwich crash
HARWICH - One man remains in intensive care at CCH after a crash early Sunday morning in Harwich. The Times reports Harwich Police Robert Hadfield discovered a VW Jetta had broadsided a tree on Route 124 and found the driver 25-year old Tawan Burgess in cardiac arrest. Ptl. Hadfield gave Burgess CPR assisted by other arriving officers. Burgess was rushed by ambulance to the hospital. Harwich Police are investigating the crash and believe speed wa a factor.
