Murder in Barnstable; Violent attack; Police probe Hyannis stabbing; Mashpee crash; Ptown bar shut down after sewerage leak

BARNSTABLE - One man is dead and a doctor under arrest after a shooting in Barnstable Sunday. Police were called to 11 Coach Lane about 12:30 PM.

Investigators are seen here at the scene (right). The victim identified as 50-year old Patrick Lancaster was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Lancaster's wife 50-year old Dr. Ann Gryboski has been charged with his murder. She practices internal medicine in South Yarmouth.

A web check shows she graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine and has been practicing for 21 years. Lancaster owned a 31 foot charter fishing boat the Emily S. Cape & Islands D.A's Michael O'Keefe called the incident "tragic" and offered lttle other information except to say there were mitigating circumstances. A grand jury will determine the ultimate charge.

The Times reports Gryboski had a permit to carry the handgun believed used in the shooting. There was no record of trouble at the house other than a couple of barking dog complaints.

Gryboski was arraigned in Barnstable Court Monday morning. Her face showed cuts and bruises. According to a police report she told detectives there was a history of domestic violence. Gryboski said she tried to intervene in a fight betwen her husband and one of their sons when he allegedly turned on her and that was when she shot him. CWN exclusive scene photos courtesy of Frank Paparo.

One person seriously injured in crash
DENNIS - One person suffered what were described as serious but non-life threatening injuries after a crash Sunday evening in Dennis. The vehicle crashed into the woods on Great Western Road sometime after 11 PM. Dennis Police are investigating. Further details were not immediately available.

Violent assault reported in Hyannis
HYANNIS - One person was arrested in Hyannis Sunday evening accused in a violent attack. The unidentified suspect allegedly struck someone with a board on General Patton Drive. The suspect was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. We'll bring you further details as we get them from Barnstable Police.

Three stabbed at Pufferbellies in Hyannis

HYANNIS - (reposted at 11 AM). Three people were stabbed in Hyannis early Sunday morning. Police were called to the parking lot of the Pufferbellies complex about 1:15 AM. The victims were rushed to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment. None of the injuries appear life threatening. A large crowd reportedly gathered here at the emergency room at the hospital and two people were arrested fir a fight at the hospital. 26-year old Marvin Domino of Hyannis and 25-year old Joseph Tavares of New Bedford were charged with assault and battery and disorderly conduct. Barnstable Police are still searching for suspects in the stabbings.and will bring you further details as we get them. Photos courtesy of Frank Paparo.

Falmouth crash injures one seriously
FALMOUTH - One person was injured in a two vehicle crash in Falmouth Sunday afternoon. The crash happened just before 2:30 PM on Nathan Ellis Highway (Route 151) and Sandwich Road. Firefighters from Mashpee assisted in extricating the driver from the wreckage. Rescuers considered Medflighting the victim but the helicopter was too far away so they were taken to Falmouth Hospital with what were believed to be serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Popular Ptown bar shut down after sewerage leak discovered
PROVINCETOWN - The popular Atlantic House Bar in Provincetown was closed down by the town early last week after a sewerage problem was detected. The club was in the process of installing a sprinkler system as required by laws enacted after the RI club fire when a town water employee discovered the problem. Provincetown installed its sewer system in 2003 but the Atlantic House was among those properties given a temporary waiver or "red dot" because they had already invested in costly so called "Title V" systems. The town says the club will be closed until they hook up to the system. Club owners have not said how long they expect that to be but a sign on the window says the club is closed for the holiday weekend for renovations.
