Man charged with stealing wallet out of car in Yarmouth
YARMOUTH - A local man was arrested after police say he stole a wallet out of a car parked at a health club. Police say about 6:45 PM Monday Patrol Investigator David S. Dickey and Patrol Officer Louis Nickinello, Jr. responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Mid Cape Racquet and Health Club on Whites Path in South Yarmouth.

Upon arrival health club staff informed them that they had spotted a suspicious man inside the club. The man matched the description of the person who had stolen cash from a parked vehicle on Friday night, which was initially investigated by Yarmouth Police Patrol Officer Michael Kramer.

Officers Nickinello and Dickey questioned the man who provided his name as John Winnell. The man stated that his club membership had expired and subsequently admitted that he signed in at the guest register under the false name of Mike Bell.

Yarmouth Police Detective Russell Giammarco arrived at the scene and helped to determine that the man was in fact the same man caught on videotape stealing $280.00 cash from a wallet in a vehicle on Friday night. 37-year old John F. Winnell (pictured) was placed under arrest on charges of breaking and entering a motor vehicle with intent to commit a felony and larceny over $250. He was transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters and was scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court later Monday. Photo furnished by YPD
