School threat; Rumble at Melpet Farm; 2 crashes on Route 6 in Eastham; Brewster gasline ruptures

Threatening note found at Mattacheese School in Yarmouth
YARMOUTH
- Yarmouth Police are investigating the discovery of a threatening note at the Mattacheese School today. Police say about 2 PM a student notified the School Resource Officer at at the school of a threat written on a wall. The non-credible threat mentioned a bomb and a gun.

Yarmouth Police School Resource Officer William P. Coughlan notified the school staff and fellow police officers and began an investigation. Crime Scene Investigator Albert Roth III of the Barnstable County Sheriff's Department was called to the scene for photographs and evidence analysis. The Yarmouth Fire Department was also notified.

Based on the results of the investigation school will be in session tomorrow in routine fashion.

The matter is under investigation by the Yarmouth Police Department and the Mattacheese Middle School administration. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Yarmouth Police Department at 508-775-0445.

Older woman drives through neighbors apartment at Dennis complex 

   This was the scene at Melpet Farm on Route 134 in Dennis this morning
DENNIS - melpetcar_400The town-owned property formerly known as Melpet Farm on Route 134 in Dennis was the scene this morning around 11:30 of  another one of those apparent "hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal" accidents.

66-year old Margaret English, lives in the apartment above the accident where the stairway has been destroyed as well.

She reported that she was parking in her regular spot when suddenly her car flew through a neighbors' apartment shown on right.

No one was in the apartment at the time and the driver was not injured. 

2 crashes sends three to hospital, slow traffic on Rt. 6 in Eastham

Traffic was backed up for miles in Eastham this morning due to a 2-car accident in fron of the PD
eastham17325_325EASTHAMA two car crash in front of the Eastham Police Station sent one person to the Cape Cod Hospital today with unknown injuries. The crash happened about 11 AM and caused Traffic to be backed up in both  directions of Rt 6. today. Meanwhile about 5:30 PM another three vehicle crash happened on Route 6 at Hay Road. Police say a vehicle pulled out of Hay Road colliding with a Mercedes driven by 66-year old Ronald Folz of Brewster. The impact carried the two vehicles into oncoming traffic. Folz and a passenger in the Honda 19-year old Joshua Truscott of Yarmouth were taken to Cape Cod Hospital by Eastham and Orleans ambulances. Their injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening. Eastham Police are investigating the cause of both crashes. Photos by Jake O'Callaghan.

Ruptured gas pipline forces evacuations

BREWSTER
Brewster firefighters were called to a ruptured gas line about 10:30 AM today. A construction crew digging a hole hit the line.  Rt 137 (Long Pond Road) at Millstone Road was closed  for approx 30 minutes until Keyspan crews could shut gas off.  Small businesses in area of leak were evacuated for short time.
