DENNIS
- A seven month investigation ends in the arrest of a Dennis man on alleged drug trafficking charges. 25-year old Luis E. Albelo was charged following the investigation into alleged cocaine trafficking. Dennis Police tell CWN the arrest occurred when they and agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration's Cape Cod Task Force observed Mr. Albelo exiting his residence and walk across Route 28 to a nearby business parking lot.  At this that he was intercepted by law enforcement officers and placed under arrest on an outstanding drug warrant.  During a subsequent search of his person, officers reportedly located an ounce of cocaine in his clothing.

As a result, of their observations police obtained and subsequently executed a search warrant of his apartment, where they found an additional 90 grams of cocaine, scales and drug packing material and $800 in cash. Police also discovered that a surveillance camera had been installed in the stairwell leading to the apartment and that it was connected to a TV monitor located inside the apartment.

Mr. Albelo is being charged with Distribution of Class B Controlled Substance - Cocaine, Trafficking Cocaine more than 14 grams and Trafficking Cocaine - more than 28 grams. The initial two charges are the result of Mr. Albelo's alleged sale of cocaine on two occasions to an undercover police officer.  These incidents occurred in Dennis. The latter charge resulted from his arrest and search of his apartment.

Mr. Albelo was arraigned in Orleans District Court on Thursday morning, May 31, 2007. Mr. Albelo pled not guilty to all of the charges and was released following the posting of a $15,000 cash bail.  Mr. Albelo's next court appearance is scheduled for June 12th in Orleans District Court.
